Goran Bregovic and his Wedding and Funeral Orchestra

Not too long ago I got the chance to see Goran Bregovic and His Wedding and Funeral Orchestra play at the Sony Centre For the Performing Arts. It was my first time in said theatre and it was lovely and I would like to go back.

Goran was not at all what I expected. I expected accordions and very serbian music, instead we got what started off as serbian and eventually turned into something very latin inspired. At first, Goran came on stage and played a bit of guitar along a bunch of backing singers, very somber, and out out of nowhere a procession of brass instruments came into the auditorium and walked through the audience and to the stage. Extremely powerful.

The band was then joined by 2 female singers and a man on a single floor tom and powerful vocals. About halfway through the show almost the entire crowd was up and dancing and knew all the words to the songs. I had a sneaking suspicion we were the only ones there who had never seen him perform before. Definitely a real treat!
